In theatre, scenery refers to all the physical elements - including painted backdrops, and structures - that are used on on stage to create the visual enviroment, represent the location and define the time and mood for a play or performance.. Also known as the set or setting, scenery helps tell the story by establishing where the action takes place and supporting the visual world of the play.
