Radio Microphones

Also known as a radio microphone, it has a small, battery-powered radio transmitter in the microphone body, which transmits the audio signal from the microphone by radio waves to a nearby receiver unit, which recovers the audio. The other audio equipment is connected to the receiver unit by cable.

In the UK, radio microphone frequencies are primarily governed by Ofcom. the Uks communications regulator Channel 70 (863-865 MHz) is licence-exempt, meaning no license is required, but it's a shared space and interference can occur. Channel 38 (606-614 MHz) requires a license from Ofcom.
